Radical Heart, intervention, 2020
Materials: print-screened, handmade fabric face masks
Exhibited: Artrooms Moravany, Kaštieľ Moravany, Moravany nad Váhom, Slovakia, Blokáda Extrémizmu 2020, sites across Slovakia.

In an effort to prompt the viewer into re-evaluating various aspects of western culture, and guided by principles of ‘dérive’ and ‘détournment’ (debord), this work was created from a standpoint of operating as facilitator. I offered hand-made, fabric masks to be worn with messages printed onto them for Artrooms Moravany II, and for Blokáda Extrémizmu (Extremist Blockade, a travelling gallery). Viewers are invited to take a mask and wear it during their daily routines to communicate their wishes for the future. The masks leave the exhibition space with the viewer and the statement/conversation shifts to the community at large, prompting ideas and potential discussion about ways in which we relate to the environment, economics, and social structures that are currently in question. Masks are available in English and Slovak with the phrases such as “post 1% world” and “collaborative renaissance”
